My role: Director of Photography. Assisting director with scheduling and content reviews. Location scouting.
Shot on location in Doha, Qatar.
Filmed on Arri Alexa Mini with Ultra Primes.
Our film campaign for Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar is an ambitious 12-video series that looks at everything the prestigious Medical college has to offer, from particular degrees and career paths all the way through to human resources and life in Doha, Qatar.
This was a quad-country cooperation, with key roles filled by creatives from Australia, a camera crew from Lebanon, a post team in the UK and a client in Qatar. We stayed on location for just over a month, filming not only on campus but in the deserts surrounding Doha, and the various tourism sites dotted through the capital.
As the Director of Photography, my central focus on the project was to support the vision of director Cleo Wyrill by creating very cinematic and engaging frames that could be imparted across the entireity of the project. Each film has a centralised authorative voice from either a lecturer or coordinator. We filmed these interviews from two angles; a roving wide and a very intimate, soft focus close-up that draws the viewers in. We leant on the scale of the architecture in Qatar to act as a visual signifier of the courses, the students and their goals, and strove for that quality for each video.
I have selected a number of films you can watch below, or alternatively you can view the entire series at WCM-Q's youtube channel here.
